Another good year in business without doing any planning? Great, but don’t push your luck. Goal setting is important, so give your practice a boost this New Year.

  • Improve Your Technology

You may be “old school” and still conduct business like a dinosaur, but your patients don’t. Most are up-to-date with technology and expect you to be too. They may want to schedule appointments with you online, expect you to submit their billing promptly electronically, and prefer to take tests and other assessments on tablets like they do in other offices. Survey their expectations and get your practice up to speed!

  • Enhance Customer Service

Don’t set technology goals just to look cool. The software and devices help you deliver services faster and more efficiently, increasing your responsiveness to your patients. It’s easy to forget that you’re in a customer service business. In addition to your extensive professional experience and expertise, sometimes the only thing that distinguishes you from your colleagues is how well you deliver.

  • Network!

Take time to network to improve practice services. You can’t grow without a strong referral system, so spend time strengthening it. This doesn’t always mean chasing new patients since your existing base may have great repeat potential. But spend time thinking about how you can reach out to new sources too. If you can’t do it on your own, get help from a practice consultant to help you.

The New Year is a great time to engage in goal setting as a best practice to sustain and increase future success. Don’t keep flying by the seat of your pants. Become accountable to yourself, your patients, and to your business!
